erojas@ifh.rutgers.edu, (848) 932-5864

Erick Rojas (BS, Public Health, Rutgers University; MPH, Epidemiology, Columbia University; JD, Rutgers University School of Law) is a Research Project Assistant at the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research, working alongside colleagues examining the implementation and impact of federal and state policies and evidence-based practices on health systems. Currently, Erick is involved in examining how research evidence is used in policy development and implementation for trauma-informed mental health delivery systems for children in foster care. Erick is also working to examine the effectiveness of state mental health monitoring mechanisms of psychotropic medication use among children in foster care. Prior to joining the Institute, Erick always strived to improve the lives of vulnerable populations while addressing social injustice as an attorney, policy analyst, and epidemiologist. An alumni of the Project L/EARN class of 2000, Erick credits the program with launching his trajectory into a lifetime of working to improve the well-being of others through research and action. Erick thanks Project L/EARN for giving him the tools to construct a framework to meaningfully engage social issues and affect change. In his free time, Erick enjoys volunteering, spending time with his nephew, and working out.
